HCS SB 422 -- EXPUNGEMENT PETITIONS SPONSOR: Bartle (Yates) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Judiciary by a vote of 13 to 0. This substitute provides that when a court enters an order of expungement for arrest records or alcohol-related driving offenses, the expunged records will be confidential and only available to the parties or by court order for good cause. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and FY 2008. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill clarifies the confidentiality of certain expunged arrest records. Testifying for the bill were Senator Bartle; and Office of State Courts Administrator. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
