Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

HCS SB 422 -- EXPUNGEMENT PETITIONS

SPONSOR:  Bartle (Yates)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Judiciary by a vote of 13 to 0.

This substitute provides that when a court enters an order of
expungement for arrest records or alcohol-related driving
offenses, the expunged records will be confidential and only
available to the parties or by court order for good cause.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and
FY 2008.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill clarifies the
confidentiality of certain expunged arrest records.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Bartle; and Office of State
Courts Administrator.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
